Guessing I got an admit into NUS, albeit in a funny way. In the application portal under admissions status, there is a new button called E-Payment that shows up on my screen. When I clicked on it, it shows I have to pay the NUS acceptance fee of SGD 5000.

Did not get any official admit email from the school nor any status update. But its Chinese New Year so perhaps the email has not been sent out.

Nice! Congratulations! Yeah, they're probably ensuring all accounts have the status change reflected before sending out the confirmation email.

Wow! Congratulations!

If you don't mind, when did you submit the application? I thought we were still a week from the deadline!

this is a bit bizarre. NUS adcom actually called me 2 times asking me if I got the acceptance email and whether I have made up my mind to join the school.

Anyone else have had this experience?

I submitted my application yesterday for Round 1, 28th Jan, 2012. Any idea how much time it takes on an average, to hear back on the status of the application?

I had my interview about 3 weeks ago. I researched online to get a general sense of how the interviews at NUS were held. In order to prepare for my interview, I decided to keep up with a lot of current affairs around the world, especially the ones that had some sort of relation with my essay responses.

Having said that, the interview for me was completely different than what I expected. I had two people interview me (one adcom member, one faculty) and we talked about various things. Here are some of the questions they asked.

1. What are three important elements of a leader?
2. Please expand upon your career goals after attending NUS.
3. Why Bschool? Why NUS?
4. What am I looking for when I am applying to BSchool (They didn't actually ask for me to list the schools I had applied to)
5. What do you like to do on your spare time?
6. What are somethings you feel that you can bring to the learning community at NUS?

That was basically what I was asked. The interview was surprisingly short, lasted 15 minutes. I asked two questions and we discussed those questions for a while. My interview ended up being around 25 minutes.

I hope this helps, but like I said, this is completely different than what I was expecting. Good luck to you!

Hi kenhsu,

That was really helpful. I have read on various posts that NUS tends to ask questions related to current affairs and also questions around "if you were xyz how would you solve abc problem". In other words not the typical Why MBA; Why XYZ school. Was the interview relaxed or was it nerve wracking?

Have you heard from them about their decision yet?
