This answer choice is grammatically correct but stylistically flawed. When introducing examples, the word like should be replaced by the more appropriate such as.

This answer choice is both grammatically incorrect and repeats the originalstylistic mistake. The singular subject food does not agree with the plural verb are. In addition, the word like should be replaced by the more appropriate such as when introducing examples.

What helps us identify this question as a Subject Verb Agreement question as well as identify this mistake is the following Stop Sign: A long complex subject / long distance between the subject and the verb

Eliminate C bc S-V disagreement
E change the meaning

Nutritious food is singular.

A) Incorrect comparison marker "like".
B) Incorrect comparison marker "like" and "are" is plural.
C) Correct comparison marker "such as" but "are" is plural.
D) Correct.
E) Out of scope and wordy "such as a variety of".

Option D.
