Career Goal Essay (200 words)>>> Reduced word limit from 3000 in 2019-2020 cycle to 200 words this year
Michigan Ross is a place where people from all backgrounds with different career goals can thrive. What is your short-term career goal and why?

Note from Adcom: We found that the best responses to this essay were clear and succinct. The ones that were less successful tended to be less focused or focused too much on the “what” and not enough on the “why.” For the AdCom, the “why” is the most impactful and differentiating aspect of each essay to me. Here’s that prompt:

Hi Guys,
There has been a lot of hype about Fall 2021 being the most competitive season for MBA applications because of the upcoming recession and deferrals from previous year. Any opinions on this?

In the words of the great Public Enemy song from 1988, "Don't believe the hype." ; )

I did a whole episode about COVID deferrals and the impact on applications this year -- it's episode 11 of B-Schooled (I'm the host for Stacy Blackman Consulting). I get insight from all of our team and then talked about our take for both people trying to figure out if they should attend this fall, as well as those applying in the 2020-21 currently underway. Pretty good! Although stuffing everything within 200 words for the second essay looks to be a challenge.

Apart from the short term goal and the 'why' aspect, do you think we need to add a couple of lines on 'why Ross' ?
