In this post, I will try to state some observations/conclusions that I noticed from admission statistics at a number of PhD offering schools in the US.
The Tippie College of Business - The University of Iowa
https://www.biz.uiowa.edu/phd/Fall07AdmResults.htmlObservation 1: The average GMAT score for applicants is significantly lower than that for admitted students (especially for management and finance majors)
Conclusion: it seems like alot of applicants for phd programs in management and finance have low gmat scores (less than 600), which pulls down the average .. and that explains why only a few are admitted, although not the main reason.
Goizeuta Business School - Emory University
https://www.goizueta.emory.edu/degree/ph ... stics.htmlObservation 2: the vast majority of applicants for PhD progam are international (more than 75%) for all years. Never the less, for all years, except 2007 and 2002, more domestic students are enrolled than international !!
Conclusion: either: 1. demestic applicants are more qualified than international (which some what makes sense as alot of not well qualified students apply for business PhD in the US) OR 2. Business Schools have a qouta for international vs. domestic admission rates; several reasons may justify this.
Please Feel free to add more observations and conclusionsI will add later for Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and some other schools
