(CNN) -- The mastermind of the worst terrorist attack on American soil is dead, U.S. President Barack Obama announced late Sunday night, almost 10 years after the attacks that killed more than 3,000 people.

Osama bin Laden -- the longtime leader of al Qaeda -- was killed by U.S. forces in a mansion outside the Pakistani capital of Islamabad along with other family members, a senior U.S. official told CNN.

U.S. officials have taken custody of bin Laden's body, Obama said. No Americans were harmed in the operation, he added.

And so goes hide and seek champ of the past decade. Probably shouldn't have let his iPhone "use current location", but hey- the world is a better place now.

Now on a more serious note, because of the similarity between Obama and Osama (bin Laden), some Chinese newstations have reported that "Obama" is finally dead..... :oops: big time oopsssssss

During the festivities, Seth Meyers makes a joke about how Osama bin laden has eluded the US, and actually hosts a show on CSpan. The camera pans to Obama, who had a

The guy is so damn cool, it's hard to hate his style and eloquence. Him walking to and away from his mic during his press conference in the east room was so frickin bad ass. Defiantly some swag there.

while that would be gratifying, I think it wouldn't serve any purpose.

Obama was right, the people who think it is fake before will think it is fake after..
the people who are mad about his death will be even more enraged..

it would only serve to satiate people's morbid curiosity in the short term. IMO, who cares how he died? at least he is!

also.......... he might still be alive under interrogation before they off him... i wouldnt see why not... dun dun dunnnnn

Oh! I get it.... Terror, so easy even a cave man can do it! :)

You know he was just (well publicized) an icon... a closure. I am not sure this will mean a significant if any real change.
