123man I am based out of Pakistan. Still waiting for the Admission Packet. Guess I should send the tuition deposit anyway.

Guys, maybe this is too soon but has anyone started looking at possible living arrangements in Durham ? Any apartment/housing options that one should explore?

I was hoping that somebody could enlighten me on this as well.

I've started narrowing my options down to a few buildings. I am going to start reaching out to the MBA2's next week so that I could get a verbal commitment from somebody (who has a sweet apartment) that they would endorse me to their landlord. I want to seal the deal before the R1 decision release deadline.

Guys, scholarship selection is merit based and all students are considered automatically. Those who were lucky to receive a scholarship would have received a letter within their admissions packet. I wasn't one of the lucky ones but then again from what I hear few scholarships are given out in EA round.

Threestripes, can you recommend any buildings that I should check out as well ? Thanks.

Hi all,

Duke actually maintains an annual survey of students' opinions of the apartment complexes close to campus. For some reason the forum won't let me post links, but if you google search "Duke apartment complex reports" you should be able to find the 2010 survey.

Also, through convos with the Partners Club, the reps mentioned that many of the single students stay at Station 9 while the married folks tend to live at Alexan Place. Feel free to reach out if you have questions! My wife is a recent Nic School alum and is happy to help!

The two options in joda522's quoted post are two of the three that most MBA's talk about. The third one that is mentioned a lot is The Lofts, but I believe this is more expensive. The MBA Class of 2014 website also has a map that shows all the different apartment complexes near Fuqua.

Hi everybody,

I recall that we all supposed to pay 75$ for a background check, however I can't find the email, or where it was written.

Will really appreciate if someone could post the email or PM me the link...

Thanks

It's in the admit packet. According to the document, instructions will be sent out after the tuition deposit is received.

Pretty damn excited to be posting here!!!

Perusing Duke's website again to refresh my memory (I applied and did open interviews in Oct. so it's been a LONG wait!), I feel that it's very hard to navigate and find information. Anyone else get that impression?

I'm looking forward to getting the welcome packet and more info!

Congrats to all the fellow R1 admits. It's been great to start meeting some of you on the Facebook group and in chat here.

Look through the thread here it looks like info from the admissions office trickles through rather than coming through quickly. I'm moving from Australia so have heaps to do before 1 August so am pretty keen to get started.

Has anyone got any suggestions on things to get started on? We've started looking at apartments online. Given we won't be able to make BDW we'll be making a decision from afar on where to live.

We like the look of West Village and Trinity Commons, anyone know if these complexes are popular with Fuqans?

If you're looking for info, I stumbled upon this great "unofficial guide" made by second years! It is 115 pages covering everything from housing, classroom etiquette, clubs - you name it. I've read 1/3 of it and have been really impressed by the level of detail. Enjoy! (I haven't looked through previous posts on this tread or other Fuqua threads, so I apologize if this is repetitive.)
