A film production company found that, because their movies do not cater to today’s youth, the number of moviegoers that watch their movies has decreased. Which of the following is the strongest reason that would explain why the company’s changes will attract more moviegoers?
A. Johnny Depp is the highest-paid actor in the movie industry today B. Johnny Depp has shown an inclination to sign on with the production company just as Tom Cruise’s contract is about to expire C. Today’s audiences are big fans of Johnny Depp, while Tom Cruise’s popularity is at an all-times low D. I think option C --since it completes the link between moviegoers and Johnny Depp
To attract more moviegoers, the company intends to produce more movies with Johnny Depp and less movies with Tom Cruise & Today’s audiences are big fans of Johnny Depp, while Tom Cruise’s popularity is at an all-times low--Thus attracting more moviegoers as the production company wanted.

By process of elimination, C stands out as the correct one.
A) No mention of an actor's salary being a reason for people to come to movies. Cross. B) Again, out of scope, an actor's willingness to sign with a movies does not mean he or she will attract more audience. Cross. C) J.D. has a lot of fans, hmm, this could actually help lure more people to watch his movies. This statement also says that T.C. is not a big attraction for people. Hold on to this option. It might be what we are looking for. D) Again, out of scope. E) Nothing was mentioned regarding economy.

Choice 'C', by POE!
On an off-topic note, isn't the usage of possessive pronoun 'their' incorrectly used to refer back to the 'Company'? I believe usage of 'its' would be better accounted for.. if that is the case this question is not representative of GMAT.

Good point. I would like to hear some expert's comments.
I agree with you but it seems that we are talking about a person when we refer to a company, a thinking entity.

Good point but this could be a made up question from some random textbook.
