How does this consortium thing work? If you got accepted to a consortium school are you still considered a Consortium fellow? Or are you only a fellow if you attend a consortium school and they give you a consortium fellowship?

If you get admitted to a consortium school and no fellowship, you are a consortium MEMBER. But if you get the fellowship, then you are a consortium FELLOW.

What's the difference?

The only difference is the $$$$. Fellows and members have the same "benefits"

Also, you can be accepted to a membership school, but not into the consortium. I was accepted to Kenan Flagler and am waiting to hear if I am accepted as a consortium member/fellow (w/ $$$)

As I understand it, once you're admitted to a Consortium school, there are three possible outcomes:

1) Consortium membership and fellowship
2) Consortium membership but no fellowship
3) Denied membership, which precludes you from the fellowship but does not negate your admission

Membership decisions or fellowship decisions or both? And this is snail-mail?

I emailed the Consortium as well and they said Tuesday. What's the deal with NYU? Are they not issuing consortium fellowships?

I received a consortium scholarship from Yale, so I'm assuming that I will be awarded consortium fellowship...I hope that's the case because I'm probably going to Stern.

I could be wrong, but don't you only get one consortium fellowship offer?

You can only receive the Consortium fellowship from one school.

Means #1 passed on you for a Consortium fellowship but (if you were admitted to #1), you of course are eligible for other aid they'd like to provide.

But you're still eligible for general fellowship? I don't care about who is giving me money (the school or the consortium) just as long as I have access to the network.

The Consortium doesn't give money, the schools do. You can receive a "Consortium Fellowship" from only one of your ranked schools.

The other schools you applied to via the Consortium can offer you whatever they please (maybe a full ride, or 1/2 scholarship or nothing)

If you're admitted to one of your Consortium schools and granted membership to the Consortium and decide to attend one of the schools (doesn't matter if you have a fellowship or not) you'll have access to the network.
