Fellow person doing a similar route. I've done a lot of research and if you're gonna apply you've got to have a very clear goal that makes sense to your interests. For my applications I could have named off the 4-5 companies in 3 specific cities that I hope to work in. The big issue is making sure going back to school isn't going to hurt you. At some point, you're risking being overqualified for most jobs, but underqualified experience-wise for the jobs you're targeting. So I guess this comes back to making sure you have clear goals.
I'd also suggest pulling up the GMAT. I know it sucks, but if you can get through law school you should be able to get it at/near a 700. You'd be surprised how open business schools are for lawyers. If I were you, to make sure you aren't going to be caught between two job levels and then being unemployed, I'd suggest making sure you go to the best school you can relative to your goals (field, location, etc). I'd shoot for top 40 schools only.
