1) x^2 + 5 >21
2) |x| < 3

Check to make sure you copied the question correctly. The prompts you gave contradict each other and give an erroneous answer.

2) Translates to: -3 < x < 3 ----> X could be (+) or (-) -----> Insufficient
- eliminate B & D

1) x^2 > 16 -----> x > 4 OR x < -4 -------> Insufficient
- eliminate A

1 & 2) X cannot possibly be between -3 and 3 as well as greater 4 or less than -4. Check the source problem.

-------> ERROR ERROR DOES NOT COMPUTE!!!

1. Did you copy the question EXACTLY as it is in the source? The statements contradict each other. Both |x| > 4 and |x| < 3 cannot be simultaneously correct.

2. Is the source really MGMAT?

How the answer is C?
Statement 1 says |x|>4 and Statement 2 says |x|<3, its contradictory statement.

IMO should be E.

Both the options refer to opposite solution. So the answer cannot be determined.
