How the answer is C?
Statement 1 says |x|>4 and Statement 2 says |x|<3, its contradictory statement.

IMO should be E.

If x is an integer, is x positive?

(1) x^2 + 5 >21
(2) |x| < 3

is the official answer correct? can someone explain please?

Both the options refer to opposite solution. So the answer cannot be determined.
