Hi, I'm very lucky to be admitted at two of the best business schools in the US: MIT Sloan and Chicago Booth.

My background: economics undergrad in top local university in Europe. Pre MBA experience: 2 years of financial advisory + 3 years corporate development / M&A in Utilities industry.

Post-MBA goal (short-term): investment banking in a BB in NYC or maybe Private Equity for infrastructure.

Although my first though was that Booth is a better fit for the strong finance curriculum, I am now more attracted by MIT for the following reasons:
- Slightly stronger brand name, specially internationally / in Europe.
- Much better international network.
- Very good finance program but few people pursuing careers in finance - maybe less competition for IB roles.
- Closer to NYC (good for recruiting)
- Awarded a $20k fellowship.
- Smaller and more intimate community
- Don't have to commute everyday to reach campus from downtown (living at Cambridge seems nice)
- Close to HBS (potential network synergies)

I would appreciate any comment and advice regarding my dilemma.

Seems that you are already convinced! Go with your heart, got with MIT
I-Banking recruiting is very structured. Therefore picking between top schools, banking recruiting should not factor into your decision. You will get interviews regardless if you got to Booth or Sloan.
There will be less internal competition at Sloan (you'll have an MD all to yourself when Banks visit), though banks may not come to campus as much (but Sloan is closer to NY).
Finance class wise, both schools are top notch with Nobel Laureates in Econ/Finance and lots of quant finance classes if you decide to go that route.
Basically, if you go to either school you'll have the same opportunities to work in big banks. Only that Booth will have more people going that route.

If you like MIT more and think the name will help you further in your career, than go with MIT. Best of luck!

I'd go with Booth here as the school is way stronger when it comes to IB/PE recruiting.

Given your goals, I'd strongly recommend Chicago Booth.
In finance circles recruiting, the best regarded are Wharton, Booth & Columbia. (among non H & S schools which of course have great links with PE/VC/HF etc)

The reasons you posted make sense, but its not just about the interview shot at an Investment Bank. The entire community at Booth who is looking to go into IB, IM, PE, VC etc will be a bit above Sloan just because of existing perceptions and self-selection. The alumni links to financial institutions also play a vital role during recruiting + in the future.

You won't go wrong with either choice, but just for your post-mba goals I feel Chicago Booth will serve you much better.

Nadie conoce a U Chicago en España tío!
Aprovecha la oportunidad y ve para MIT, no vas a tener ningún tipo de problema de hacer recruiting ahí.
Luego el brand name te ayudará en el futuro.

Muchas gracias! Yo también lo veo un poco así, ambas grandes escuelas pero Sloan abre muchas más puertas en España/Europa.
