Hey Folks,

I took the GMAT in February with a super low 490 score for the first time, so I decided to retake it and studied with a prep course for the last three months to increase my quant score. I have always been strong in the verbal section.

I took the first practice exam (GMAT Official) since February yesterday and got a 650 with a solid quant improvement (from 22 to 42 in three months).
However, this morning, I took my second practice test and was shocked to see that my score was 520, due to a very low performance in the quant section.

My retake date is tomorrow (!), and with this extreme fluctuation from yesterday to today, I am now really concerned.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

I'd appreciate any input, thanks a lot!

donot panic , stay calm and give your best . gmat is all about how calm you stay during the test . donot think too much about score you got today , sometimes if you get 2 or more questions incorrect in a row a practice test gives you very low score . in actual gmat things run differently than practice test .

Don't think about it too much, give the test as normal. I wish you all the best.

Best wishes for your retake.
Try not to guess 3 questions in a row, if they all get wrong your score will be impacted.
Use your pre-decided strategy to attempt the test and put your A-game, your state of mind impacts the test, the most.
Make sure you do not repeat the silly mistakes you made in your previous test(Do analyse it for 1 hour, it will help you).

Thanks so much for the replies, I'm stunned by how supportive this community is!

I really did score three wrong in a row twice this time (max. 2 in a row the test before) and also know why. I was doing two things differently, that really harmed my score:

1. being too confident about knowing the answer to DS questions without calculations
2. rushing through questions trying to catch up on time after realizing I had fallen behind a little

I'll avoid making the same mistakes again and keep a positive mindset. Thanks again!
