marve, welcome as a longtime lurker. I recommend you R.E.L.A.X: relax. You are safe taking the online, sans AWA. As BB posted, I recently did two videos with admissions directors from a handful of T-15 programs. The consensus is simply, because the business school application process is holistic and takes into account a myriad of factors -- among them your essay, that you will not be penalized in any way. Focus on doing the best you can on your exam!

Hi marve,

Since the At-home GMAT has been an option for the last year, Business Schools clearly do not care whether your application includes an AWA Score from the GMAT or not. In lieu of having that additional data, it's certainly possible that a particular School or Program might want to interview you or have you write an additional essay - but it's incredibly unlikely that your acceptance/rejection from a particular Program would rest on whether you had an AWA or not. Covid-19 has forced a number of adjustments both to how individuals apply to Business School and how the Schools themselves accept applicants - and the AWA is a small, relatively minor aspect of the traditional application 'package.' This is all meant to say that if you have a strong GMAT Score and a strong Overall profile, then you should apply to any Business Schools that interest you.

Thank you so much everyone! Your replies were very helpful. I feel completely calm now about going ahead with the exam and not being penalized for the lack of AWA. Such a relief :)
