I do agree about the Harper Center and the 100% flexible curriculum though, that *almost* made me apply!
Many others have Nobel winning faculty , but IMHO, chicago as a university truly believes in their "challeneg everything" approach! In which other university you will find a professor proving slavery was actually an economically efficient system ( Fogel)! Who would have dared to argue against Keynesians way back in '60s ( Friedman)! Lucas challenged practically all the existing models by his rational expectation theory! In Finance, think about efficient market hypothesis ( I think Fama, pls correct me if I am wrong)! There are many other examples ( Lucas in development, Stigler the doyen himself).
It is not only about winning prizes, Chicagoans, more than any other schools of social sciences, have challenged the existing knowledge every time while doing so.
