I second this recommendation.

To be successful with a bschool "goals" or "purpose" essay:

1) Communicate to the adcoms that you have a specific goal in mind for the near future

2) Must demonstrate why and how a specific MBA program (that you're applying to) can help you achieve that goal. You can't use generic phrases like "Stanford is the best bschool on the west coast. It has long history of blah blah blah...." You have to come up with your own original reason for applying to the school's MBA program.

Remember, if you can connect (1) and (2) in your essay flawlessly, there is a great chance that you will get an interview. (and eventually an admit :-D )
