Hey!
Welcome to the GMATClub. Finding this site is probably one of the best thing that happens to you on your way to the business school.
First of all, congrats on your GMAT score. It's an impressive score. I see that you are going for MS degree. Once you get in, please participate in our MS Accounting forum. Many prospective students have questions and we are in need of additional experienced members in that area.
I work in Big 4 accounting firm. I worked there since 2005. I worked in taxation for first 1.5 years and then pursued MS in Management Info System (while working FT) in order to move to ITAS (information technology advisory services) div of our company.
I just finished my bschool application journey and I am happy to report that many bschools are interested in CPAs and other accounting professionals. (I am not the only one @ Gclub w CPA and top bschool
MBA admit).
You asked the purpose of MBA for accounting professionals....
Accounting is a great major and CPA is a fantastic profession to start your career. However, as your career progresses - majority of Big 4 professionals leave the field of public accounting for better opportunities. Many go work at fortune 100 companies, while others like myself enter business school.
I want you to stay open about bschool even after attaining your CPA certification. Because getting a CPA is like entering minor league system of MLB right out of the draft. In the next few years, you will figure out exactly what you want to do professionally. Business school is a great way to transform your life.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions and good luck.
P.S. - If you get your MS in Accounting, some bschools might prevent you from majoring in accounting again. Please check the curriculum requirements. (Edited)
