Re: B-School in a Recession, with Family [#permalink]
I'm in this group.
2 kids, both pre-school age, so no income, Has been this case since we moved, on top of that, because I changed country, the wife has no legal right to work. The complications are immense, but with good planning it is managable.
I calculated required budget, and by going to HKUST, i could afford to have a live-in maid. This helps with the domestic duties which means I can spend a little more time with the family. If i had gone to the USA, it would be different because of the costs of hiring domestic helpers. (rental costs are comparable).
Secondly, knowing that I will be staying in Asia, has allowed my wife to start job searching, and she ahs found a job, which covers the tuitions of both our children when they start schooling. They get a free ride into a good international school. This is an immense bonus of being in Asia. These type of opportunities would not exist in Europe or the USA for our situation.
Thirdly, knowing that the wife can secure these opportunities in Asia, means that an internship is not a necessity for me, as of know, I have yet to apply for a single internship position and planning a business venture as Plan A (Full time job is plan B).
