Hi,
I am a member of GMAT Club for few months now. But this is my first post. I was a silent viewer here, but decided to get some suggestion for the experts over here. So guys take it easy...
I am working in the IT field for few years now. I wanted to reach the next level and thought of going for GMAT. Since I had engineering background, Quant is little easy for me compare to Verbal. I had given my first diagnostic test without any prep. Wasn't a very good score but somewhat ok. I got 550 (Q40 and V26). As you can see the verbal is killer for me.
My SC was horrible, and I got 5 right out of 15. Well even CR and RC was only 50% right. For Quant, DS was bad.
Since I am working, getting any/some time is very difficult. But for last one month I had started stealing some time from my office work and family with a kid.
Till now I had gathered lot of information for this site, you guys simply rock!. I am preparing with Kaplan Premier. Also I got the SC from
MGMAT. Did gathered Kaplan 800 but yet to open it!.
From Kaplan Premier, I had been practicing Verbal and Quant (very limited practice set, but...), scoring good in Quant(90%), and also in CR (85% correct) and RC (80% correct). I know I still need to get those
OG's to get more practice questions.
I need some input from all the experts here:From what I had learned, for CR and RC basically there is not much strategy or preparation other than practice questions and timing. Is my assumptions is right??. I did go through the strategy of Kaplan premier, but there was nothing much of help, pretty much very general instruction on attacking CR and RC.
For QUant, I need more n more Q bank, which I will get again from
OG. But other than remembering few tricks and formula's not much to prepare. Just keep doing good amount of practice Questions???
Here comes the weakest part of me, SC. I did go through the
MGMAT SC guide, it was good, wealth of information, but still I am doing huge mistakes. I am thinking of going a basic grammar as well. But not sure if it will be a time consuming wastage. ANd should be concentrating on Q bank and error logs. ANy help/insight here would be of great help.!!!
I am only getting 1-2 hour in a week and 3-4 hours on weekend. and planning to give gmat in March 2011 end. Is the time is sufficient?
WIll be giving my first Kaplan exam this weekend to see where I stand from start till here.
Please please, give your input, I would appreciate a lot!
