Hello Friends, I am pasting the issue analysis that I could write in 30 mins. Please rate it and advise.
“It is unrealistic to expect individual nations to make, independently, the sacrifices necessary to conserve energy.
International leadership and worldwide cooperation are essential if we expect to protect the world’s energy resources
for future generations.”
Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons
and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.
My response:
I fully concur with the statement mentioned above that international leadership and co-operation is indispensible for the protection of world energy resources and that indivisualistic efforts by each nation may not be suffient. Although this concept is new one and there can be opposing views, I support this proposition for the reasons mentioned below.
Firstly, the most abundant and most commonly souces of energy available on earth are the fossil fuels, in form of petroleum and coal. Also it has been scientifically established that Utilization of these fuels bear an effect on the overall environment and balance of earth and nature. An apt example of this is the global warming. So even if the consumption of this fuel is more in one country, its ill effect is born by all the countries. Another example could be acid rain. It is well known that burning of fossil fuels produce acidic gases like sulpher di-oxide and carbon di-oxide, which can be carried by the seasonal winds, which know no national boundries, from one country to another, where the gases can precipitate in rain as acid and cause damage to the crops.
Secondly, an international co-operation will bring about technological advancement and improve the efficiency of fuel utilization. An inefficient usage of fossil fuels by one nation will affect all other nations as well. An international co-operation will help in dissemination of most efficient techniques known to mankind. This will indeed help to make everyones life better.
Lastly an international co-operation and control over worlds energy resources assumes all the more significance after unfortunate spillage of nuclear waste by Japanese nuclear facillities. The nuclear toxins has already have travelled far and wide across the globe. There have been news that the nuclear facilities of Japan had compromised in safety standards, which caused this disaster. Had there been an international co-operation and thus a regulation, it possibly could have been avoided.
So overall I would aver to say an international leadership and co-opearion among nations will help to keep the energy resources of world from delepting fast and will help keep the balance of nature.
