In R1, R2 & R3 for Fall 2016 Intake(or Fall 2017 Intake as well)
Two dilemmas for me:
- I am planning to switch to one of the investment banking firms here in India(Morgan Stanley, Deutsche bank, Goldman Sachs etc..).
Will working here add more to my profile(compared to working as a software engineer in an IT firm) since it is in line with my post-MBA goals?
If yes, to what extent?
- What else can I do meanwhile to add to my profile since i have a lot of time before applications?(I know it is a very open ended question. But still looking for most impacting options)
Hello there!
So, let's start off by saying that you are really off to a good start! You have a great GMAT, very good grades from a great school. Everything looks pretty good so far. Your industry will put you in a very large and tough pool of applicants though, and if you land a job in MS, GS, your chances of getting into a better school go up exponentially. So if you have that opportunity, don't think twice, just take it.
Other than that, I think Fall 2017 might be a better time for you, but see again in Fall 2016 depending on what happens.
In the meanwhile, what can you do?
- Make sure you have at least one real good volunteer work. Better if it's bigger. And better if you have leadership
- Keep up any other extra activities, sports, community involvement, especially if there is leadership or prestige attached to what you do (like you play pro sports, you work on electoral campaigns, etc. etc.)
That, and just do as well as you can at work,
Hope this helps!
Best,
JF
