Answer has to be D. If I am correct, 'that' is playing a role of demonstrative pronoun. ''it'' referent is incorrect as it could refer to sugar.

Options A & D are similar to each other except the word sweet fruits in option D. Please explain why sweet fruit word is important

Can someone explain why A is incorrect. Doesnt the usage of sweet fruit in D change the meaning in original sentence.

Please explain why choice D is better than E? Doesn't it refer back to "the amount of calories"?
