C. Most of the workers who have earned the certificate are high school graduates.

D. A large proportion of the factory workers have not graduated from high school.

E. Most of the people who take the training course are able to earn the safety certificate.

Real good question. Narrowed down to two answer choices. Need to do little math to eliminate the remaining one.

Nearly all employees of the factory who have completed their high school diploma have earned their factory safety certificate, having easily completed the eight week training course.

The high school graduates who haven't earned the certificate are ones who have evening obligations that have prevented them from taking the course.

Overall, though, most of the factory workers have not earned the certificate.

If the statements above are true, which one of the following also must be true?
(Inference question)

A. A large proportion of students with high school diplomas have evening obligations that have prevented them from taking the eight week training course. (Opposite. Nearly all diplomas completed the course. This is true of graduates.)

B. No factory worker without a high school diploma has completed the course and earned the certificate.(No. There may be at-least fewer high school graduates, who did not have evening obligations and must have completed the course and earned the certificate. This is an extreme statement which is not preferred in inference questions.)

C. Most of the workers who have earned the certificate are high school graduates. (the no of diplomas who earned certificates may be small and this sentence may be true but it cannot be inferred from above passage.)

D. A large proportion of the factory workers have not graduated from high school.(May be true but cannot be inferred.)

E. Most of the people who take the training course are able to earn the safety certificate.(This can be inferred i suppose. Not really sure.)

I am sure my some of my brain cells died due to overexertion

Good one. Was confused between C and D and dropped the one due to a possible scenario which made the choice a "could be true one".

I think the best choice is D.

D. A large proportion of the factory workers have not graduated from high school. - Most high school graduates have completed, but most of the employees have not completed. Therefore, most employees did not graduated high school

E is out because...

E. Most of the people who take the training course are able to earn the safety certificate. - The question says nothing about the how well did the non high school graduates did on the training

Extremely tricky one. All the options were pretty close. Took me 2 min to solve. I think the answer should be D.

A seemingly difficult question, but you can narrow down to only one choice which can be inferred from the passage. The others are either exactly opposite or include information which are not in scope of the passage.

Nearly all employees with high school diploma -----> earned factory certificate
Most of the employees ------> not earned the certificate
==> large number of employees not graduated from high school

I am going with . since most high school graduated employees have earned the certificate, it is safe to say large proportion of factory workers have not gradudated.

A. A large proportion of students with high school diplomas have evening obligations that have prevented them from taking the eight week training course.

B. No factory worker without a high school diploma has completed the course and earned the certificate.

C. Most of the workers who have earned the certificate are high school graduates.

D. A large proportion of the factory workers have not graduated from high school.

E. Most of the people who take the training course are able to earn the safety certificate.
