IMO C.

A- which is wrong
B - run on
D,E - Purchase is not part of deal instead "purchasing for \$950" is a deal

I will go with E.

A -- which modifies 950 million .. wrong
B,C,D --out
Original sentence talks about future purchase (it will purchase) .. second part requires "will make" .
also
D -- distorts the original meaning.. it means.. "to make largest manufacturing company, they are making the deal.."

E remains.

Suresh,
For A, can't which modify the whole clause preceding it?

I would have chosen answer E, but would have eliminated A for another reason. I believe that "which" can modify the whole clause proceding it, but "is part of a deal" does not match with "it will purchase". "The purchase" (noun) is a part of a deal. A verb ("will purchase") cannot be part of a deal.

Does that reasoning make any sense?

From my reading of various articles in wsj, I go for E.

See which modifies the \$950 million but according to intended meaning 'the purchase will make it the largest manufacturer in the office color-printing market'.
So If we want to keep comma then we must have a noun + noun modifier because this modifier can modify entity present at any position.
Or
we can simply do as shows in Option E,where subject 'deal' is correctly being illustrated by verb 'will make'..(we have used will because in the non underlined portion we have been specified that the company will purchase,so simple future tense is required. So the deal will lead to something for the company.

I hope you got why A is wrong.
And the possible answers are also discussed.
