The cost for a phone call is $0.75 for the first minute and $0.50 per minute after the first minute. If a phone call lasted x minutes, what was the cost of the phone call in terms of x?

A $0.75
B $0.75 + x
C $0.75 + 0.5x
D $0.75 + 0.5(x – 1)
E $1.25x

Total cost = 0.75 + 0.5(x -1.

x mins in total.

0.5 is applicable for x - 1 mins. For 1 mins 0.75 will be charged.

D is the correct answer.

Cost of Phone Call = Cost for first 1 min + Cost for more than first 1 min

So, Cost of Phone Call = 0.75 + 0.50( x - 1 ), Answer must be (D)
