The cost to rent a boat for a fishing trip is x dollars, which is to be shared equally among the people taking the trip. If 12 people go on the trip rather than 20, how many more dollars, in terms of x, will it cost per person?

A. \(\frac{x}{8}\)

B. \(\frac{x}{12}\)

C. \(\frac{x}{16}\)

D. \(\frac{x}{20}\)

E. \(\frac{x}{30}\)

Let the cost = 240

In case of 20 persons, cost per person = 12

In case of 12 persons, cost per person = 20

Difference = 8

Apply in each answer choice, only one fits

The cost per person if 12 people go on the trip is x/12, and the cost per person if 20 people go on the trip is x/20. Therefore, the difference is:

x/12 - x/20 = 5x/60 - 3x/60 = 2x/60 = x/30
