Two cars are traveling towards each other. If car A is traveling at a speed of 50 mph and car B is traveling 12% slower, how much time will it take the cars to meet if the initial distance between the two is 705 miles?

A. Six hours and 30 minutes.
B. Seven hours and 30 minutes.
C. Eight hours and 20 minutes.
D. Nine hours and 15 minutes.
E. Ten hours and 20 minutes.

Car B is traveling at speed of 0.88 x 50 = 44 mph. If we let t = time, in hours, it takes for them to travel before meeting each other, we can create the equation:

50t + 44t = 705

94t = 705

t = 7.5 hours = 7 hours and 30 minutes

B: 50/100 * 12 = 6 (50-6 = 44 (B) )
A+B=50+44=90
705/90=7,3

50*12%\(=50*\frac{12}{100}=6\)

Speed of \(B=50-6=44 \ mph\)

The required time \(x\)

\(so, \ 50x+44x=705\)

\(94x=705\)

\(x=7^+\) I did not go for further calculation as the answer choices are evenly spaced.

The answer is B.
