+1 for D.

The general rule of concision V > A > N (Verb > Adjective > Noun) rules E out.

Lets be clear. There is a comparison among skills and whether practitioners of these skills are inclined to admit their lack of talent for the same. Another core aspect of the sentence is that it is not necessary for people to be practitioners of all skills before they can be sample participants for such an assessment. People may be exclusively practicing either of the mentioned skills. In short, its about skills, and their ability to inspire true admissions from people. The role of people is secondary in this sentence. Based on this rationale, here is my submission:
A: Wrong comparison. The sentence should say "Unlike in case of..."
B: Wrong comparison again.
C: Brings out the intended meaning correctly, while maintaining the core meaning of the sentence
D: Assumes that sample of people must comprise people, all of whom are practitioners of all skills.
E: Same as D
Therefore, I think C should be the right answer.

wrong comparison between musical talent and many people..incorrect

C. Unlike musical talent or other creative skills, writing talents bring out a disinclination in many participant in the program to acknowledge that they are weak to a degree.
unnecessary wordy and passive..

D. Many people in the program, willing to admit that they lack musical talent or other creative skills, are disinclined to acknowledge that their writing skills are weak.
correct :)

E. Many people in the program have a disinclination to acknowledge the weakness of their writing talents while willing to admit their lack of musical talent or other creative skills. sentence is wordy and not written properly, also comparison of a disinclination to acknowledge with willing to admit doesn't go well...

I dont think D is correct. are disinclined to acknowledge that their writing skills dont you think here they are speaking of writing talent. Based on this I crossed out the option D

oh good observation, but that's a typo..i don't think gmat ever plays this way, i am yet to come across such ones..

The correct answer should be D.

I fell for E, missed the while "gerund" part. While is generally used to compare clauses. The second part is a phrase hence incorrect.

Should have noticed :(

Unlike musical talent or other creative skills, there is a disinclination on the part of many participants in the program to acknowledge the degree to which their writing talents are weak.

(A) Unlike musical talent or other creative skills, there is a disinclination on the part of many participants in the program to acknowledge the degree to which their writing talents are weak. (Incorrect: comparison error)
Unlike x, y: unlike talent, disinclination is an incorrect comparison

(B) Unlike musical talent or other creative skills, which they admit they lack, many participants in the program are disinclined to acknowledge that their writing talents are weak. (Incorrect: comparison error)
Unlike talent, participants are not compared correctly.

(C) Unlike musical talent or other creative skills, writing talents bring out a disinclination in many participant in the program to acknowledge that they are weak to a degree. (Incorrect: meaning error)
Writing talents bring out a disinclination though the meaning is people are disinclined about their ……

(D) Many people in the program, willing to admit that they lack musical talent or other creative skills, are disinclined to acknowledge that their writing skills are weak. (the best option)
Conveying clear and concise meaning

(E) Many people in the program have a disinclination to acknowledge the weakness of their writing talents while willing to admit their lack of musical talent or other creative skills. (incorrect: incorrect meaning)
While willing to admit means they are ready to admit though the message is they are not ready to admit.
