The print edition is available now. I can't believe they're charging $10 for it.

Does US News have international rankings? If so, anyone know what they are?

Greetings,

Columbia looks a bit low but the rest of the ultra elites and elites are pretty much where would we expect them to be. As usual, there is some shuffling of schools within their clusters (e.g. Anderson in the elites) but I did not see anything shocking.

USNEWS goes to 65 I think. Instead of stressing over the ranking, just pick out some schools, research them and decide which one fits you.

Well i can tell you that U of Tenn is a pretty solid program ranked in the 60's I think and they have a top 10 logistics program. Maybe look into that school?

I pretty much have a list of 40 schools and will knock down to 12-15 when I take my gmat in a week. I'm probably gonna have a 600-650, a 2.7 in Economics from Purdue with fresh, soph year at Michigan. 24 years old, lots of extracurriculars, 2 A's in alternative transcript in ACC, Stats, real estate for 2 years.

IHATE - Think you're completely underestimating the strength of your candidacy. If you get a 650, you could land a school in 30's or 40's. If you get a 700 you could go even higher. Best of luck on the GMAT!

I concur. I think you just need to but your A$$ on the GMAT and you can be competitive for some top 20 schools as longs as you address you GPA properly.

I agree..

I had a 2.98 gpa and a 600 GMAT and got into Georgia Tech (#25 in US news)..I was well below their averages..(669 gmat and 3.41 gpa).. my advice is show your passion for the school...I think it helped that I attended two info sessions, contacted students, and visitied a class....purdue and michigan are excellent schools..if you can get above a 600..which sounds like you are confident that you can..i'd shoot for top 50

As for the rankings just go to a bookstore and find the US News graduate ranking magazine. It's bright teal.

I would also say that if you don't go to a top 15 program, you're probably better off going to the best program in where you want to settle down. For example, I'm in Seattle, and I think it would be tough for a USC or Illinois kid to find a job here, whereas a UW or Seattle U kid would have a much better shot, even though these schools aren't as highly ranked.

Well, my essays are very solid. I also have one good and one bad thing. This is probably bad, but my gpa trend went down. However, my gpa at Michigan(better school) was better than myu gpa at Purdue. I do have letters of medical documentation that I'm sending to explain the mitigating factors of my low gpa. That should help

I wouldn't sweat your GPA too much. Mine wasn't much higher and I didn't bother with an alternate transcript, or with overexplaining. I basically just said in my supplemental essays, "I wasn't focused as an undergrad. Since that time I have improved at prioritizing etc..." Think it was a non-issue for most schools.

Of course now that I think about it, I haven't really been admitted anywhere besides my safety school so maybe I shouldn't be so cavalier about my low GPA. But there are plenty of other folks on this board w/ low GPA's that are in at ultra-elites and elites.

Aim higher!!

But I'm only 24 with nothing special work wise. HOwever, I do have multiple medical letters explaining why I did bad. I'm probably gonna get around 48-27/30 on the test for a 610-640

Well since you have very little work experience and none that is meaningful, then I would ask yourself why is it you want an MBA. This is going to be asked by all the schools you apply to. Also, if you wait 2-3 years and develop a line of rapid work progression then you will appear more appealing to the higher ranked schools, plus this will give you additional time to address your grades by creating some simple alternate transcript.
