Those are 2007/2008 compared. I am really interested to see if the rankings are legit some schools made huge leaps if so, ie MD went from 38/41 to 25/29.

I don't understand why US News props up mid-tier public schools so much. They certainly aren't bad schools, but I don't think the recruiting companies and placement stats of OSU or Minnesota are indicative of top 25 caliber schools. Funny methodology, IMO.

I agree. Living in the DC area I can tell you that employers would never view Georgetown and Maryland as being on the same level.

Hjort has some good posts on here questioning the validity of the US News ranking, and I thoroughly agree with his views.

For my money, the BW rankings seem to be the most legit. That said, I think every ranking should begin with H and S.

I live in the DC area and I contemplated applying to MD but not Gtown because I feel that MD has a strong rep. and there is a huge Smith billboard on your way into Gtown, I found that rather amusing.
