I agree with the above explanation.

The question is referring to the Journalist's response to the economist's comment about open source software. I think its correct to conclude that the economist is negating the growth of the popularity of open source software on the basis that it does not employ as many professional software designers, who are more creative than volunteers, and thus have a more significant impact on the growth/demand in popularity of open source software.

Thus, option C is correct as the journalist fails to address the economist's main argument of more professionals over volunteers will result in more beneficial popularity of the technology. The journalist is only convinced because he has managed to interview volunteers who use the software, and is a biased opinion.

I think this is a poor-quality question and I don't agree with the explanation. Never says that they are MORE creative, just say that most creative ideas are frome them... it could be because there are more designer than volunteers
