What is the greatest integer that does NOT satisfy 3(x – 9) < 5x – 2(1 [#permalink]

A. –4
B. –3
C. 0
D. 3
E. 4

Simplifying given inequality, we have \(3(x – 9) < 5x – 2(1 – 3x)\)
Or, 8x+25>0
Or, x>-3.125

So, the greatest integer that doesn't satisfy the given in equality is -4.

Ans. (A)

Trying the option A gives -39 < -46.

Which is not true.

A is the answer.

IMO, the language is wrong. The question should have asked "Which is the smallest integer that does not satisfy"

No, the question is correct as it is.

3(x – 9) < 5x – 2(1 – 3x) is true for x > -3.125.

The integers that do not satisfy 3(x – 9) < 5x – 2(1 – 3x) are: -4, -5, -6, -7, ... So, the greatest integer that does NOT satisfy 3(x – 9) < 5x – 2(1 – 3x) is -4.
