Re: A magazine, as part of a survey, asked the reasons of the readers [#permalink]

Explanation

Meaning of the sentence: The sentence mentions a survey conducted by a magazine. The survey asks the readers of the magazine: (a) why they work late and (b) how their absence from home affects their families.

The sentence has two parts, mentioned above, that follow the verb asked. Both the parts need to be parallel for the sentence to be grammatically correct; they have to be either verb phrases or noun phrases. Additionally, the object of the verb asked is readers and not reasons. Lastly, the verb tenses in both the parts need to be the same.
