A. the cause of genetic irregularities in many breeds of dog is not so much that dogs are being bred for looks or to meet other narrow criteria
Seems correct.

B. the cause of genetic irregularities in many breeds of dog is not as much their being bred for looks or meeting other narrow criteria as much
"breeds" cannot be bred. It is dogs that can be bred. However "their" does not agree with "dog" and rather agrees with "breeds".

C. it is not so much the cause of genetic irregularities in many breeds of dog that they are being bred for looks or meeting other narrow criteria as much
"breeds" cannot be bred. It is dogs that can be bred. However "they" does not agree with "dog" and rather agrees with "breeds".

D. it is not so much the cause of genetic irregularities in many breeds of dog is their being bred for looks or meeting other narrow criteria so much
"breeds" cannot be bred. It is dogs that can be bred. However "their" does not agree with "dog" and rather agrees with "breeds".

E. it is not so much the cause of genetic irregularities in many breeds of dog to be bred for looks or to meet other narrow criteria
"it" does not have a clear referrant. Repeats "so much" twice.

A. the cause of genetic irregularities in many breeds of dog is not so much that dogs are being bred for looks or to meet other narrow criteria
-- "so much that ... as that" is an unknow idiom to me. I bet it is wrong

B. the cause of genetic irregularities in many breeds of dog is not as much their being bred for looks or meeting other narrow criteria as much
-- "their being", " as much ... as much as" wrong

C. it is not so much the cause of genetic irregularities in many breeds of dog that they are being bred for looks or meeting other narrow criteria as much
>> Correct. I think this one is the most clear, but " it is not so much the cause" may be a bit wordy.

D. it is not so much the cause of genetic irregularities in many breeds of dog is their being bred for looks or meeting other narrow criteria so much
-- "it is not so much ... is" is not correct idiom

E. it is not so much the cause of genetic irregularities in many breeds of dog to be bred for looks or to meet other narrow criteria
-- "it is not so much ... to be" is not correct idiom

A as there is no error in the sentence segment....so much...as is the idiom and it also follows parallelism.....so much that dogs are being bred......as that the breeds have.......
