Let she earns "m" amount of money and buys total "c" no of CD's.

So she spent m/5 amount for buying c/3 no. of CD's

Cost of a CD = (m/5)/(c/3) = 3m/5c

Remaining no of CD's to be bought = c-c/3 = 2c/3

Total amount of money that will be spent for buying m=remaining CD's = 2c/3 * 3m/5c =2m/5

Total amount of money spend = 2m/5 + m/5 = 3m/5

Money left = m-3m/5 = 2m/5.

Fraction of money left = (2m/5)/m = 2/5

let total salary = 15
and CD= 9
so 1/5th of salary = 3
and CD purchased = 9 /3 = 3
so cost per CD = 1$
now balance salary left = 15-3 = 12 $
and balance CD left = 9-3 = 6
so after she buys all 6 Cd which are priced at 1$ each ; money left = 6$
so the fraction of money left / total salary = 6/15 = 2/5

lets say she earned x dollars , bought y cds
bought y/3 cds for x/5 dollars
==> y cds for 3x/5 dollars
amount left with = x- (3x/5) = 2x/5
Fraction of money left = (2x/5) /x = 2/5 => option C
