"Stated his objection to the claim that the city buses are dangerous" what does this statement mean? The cityman objected to the claim that the buses are dangerous? Should it not be that he was objection to the claim that they were safe? If you object to the claim that the bus was dangerous, you are saying the bus is safe...

(B) Drawing attention to the fact that the bus company president’s interpretation of the word “dangerous” is too narrow - This is the argument.
(C) Invoking evidence that the bus company president has explicitly dismissed as irrelevant the point at issue - Company president never explicitly dismissed the color issue.
(D) Citing statistical evidence that refutes the bus company president’s claim - No statistical evidence is cited.
(E) Casting doubt on the extent of the bus company president’s knowledge of the number of recent traffic accidents - councilman says accidents MAY happen. So the recent traffic accidents and the related number is irrelevant.

IMO B,

Bus company president thinks dangerous means only "crashed or a serious malfunction"

I thought the same ......... the claim is that the buses are unsafe .......... objection to the claim - buses are safe !

This is a statement by the bus company president. And he is saying that the what city councilman said about buses being dangerous is untrue.

I agree its slightly confusing.

I agree...the wording's incorrect here...although dismissed that thought as soon as i read the councilman's version...

Question has to read:

Bus company president: A city councilman has stated his objection to the claim that the city buses are SAFE. This is clearly untrue.

If it says "dangerous" instead of safe, then as others have pointed out above, the statement would not make sense given the context of the exchange bw the Prez and the Councilman.

Eliminated A, D and E. Between B and C, C has the word 'explicitly' which is not justified by the argument. Hence selected B.

As gmat1011 and others have stated, the question is worded incorrectly. Based on the answer choices, I went ahead and corrected the stimulus in my head in order to select B as the correct answer.

The city council does not object to the statement that city buses are dangerous, he actually supports that statement!

Faulty wording in the question. Based on what's underlined, the interpretation is that the city councilman thinks that the busy are dangerous.

I agree the stimulus I read meant to say
City Councilman : City Buses are not dangerous
Bus company president: This is untrue. City Buses are dangerous.
