A- misplaced modifiers (seems like mental disorders have been found to be...by examining sets of ITs in recent twins....more like mental disorders themselves examined the sets of twins) ILLOGICAL
B- same as A + were found as being is incorrect
C- mental disorders, has been found (Subject Verb dis-agreement error)
D - Correct
E- has shown that (Subject Verb disagreement error)

Error Analysis:

Modifier "By examining sets of identical twins in recent twins in recent studies" is incorrectly modifying "mental disorders such as schizophrenia..." as it implies that mental disorders themselves examined the sets of twins, leading to an illogical meaning.

Elimination Process:

A. By examining sets of identical twins in recent studies, mental disorders such as schizophrenia and autism have been found to be-Wrong.. Explanation given in Error Analysis.

B. By examining sets of identical twins in recent studies, mental disorders such as schizophrenia and autism were found as being-Wrong. This option has misplaced modifier error as in A and incorrectly uses "being". To learn the correct usage of "being", open https://gmatclub.com/forum/being-really ... 66106.html

C. Mental disorders such as schizophrenia and autism were examined in sets of identical twins in recent studies and has been found to be-Wrong. Plural subject "mental disorders" has a singular verb "has has been found", leading to subject-verb disagreement error.

D. Recent studies that examined sets of identical twins have shown that mental disorders such as schizophrenia and autism are- Correct.

E. Recent studies that examined sets of identical twins has shown that mental disorders such as schizophrenia and autism are-Wrong. Plural subject "Recent studies" has a singular verb "has shown", leading to subject-verb disagreement error.
