I think the biggest advantage is the earlier you submit the earlier they review you. I was speaking with an AD at a school and they said the earlier in the process you are reviewed the better your chances are. As the class begins to take shapes, they start narrowing their search to fill demographic (using in a broad sense) gaps in the class to ensure the variety of backgrounds, careers, etc. are met.

With that said, I think for Columbia when you are ready with you application and confident that another day or week will not make a difference I would submit. The one thing to note is that you should have your recommenders submit as soon as possible this way you give yourself the flexibility to submit today or before the deadline.

Hope that helps.

Had my interview last night. Went extremely well. No questions that I did not expect (walk me through your resume, career goals, leadership example, etc). It was basically a conversation rather than an interview.

Good luck to the rest of you guys.

All my answers were pretty long - at least 5 min! The thing is he kept on questioning things I said on my answer and trying to push my limits. I was expecting something informal but instead my interview was actually pretty intense. I guess it all depends on your interviewer. I know people who had very different experiences but just make sure you are ready to answer all the questions above and be able to justify everything you say. On the "ethical dilemma" question, for example, he kept on going deeper and deeper trying to put me on the spotlight...also my interviewer kept on switching languages on each question since I am not in America... it was tough but I think he knows he was tough so lets wait and see...

No, I think that means that the report has been received. You only has to wait for the Final Decision release.

From Columbia's web page:

Quote:
Complete*

If you are invited to interview, within two weeks following the interview your interviewer will submit a report to the Admissions Office. Your status will change to “complete” as confirmation that the interview took place and that the Admissions Committee received the interviewer’s report. Please remember that there is no set timeline for receiving a final decision once an interview is completed.

Final Decision Is Rendered

Final decisions are either Admission, Denial of Admission, or Wait List. Decisions can be rendered at any time and all decisions are final.

*Indicates a subphase that may or may not apply to your application.

To be honest, I don't believe my interview had anything to do with the ding. It went great. At the end of the day, I'm a white male from the Northeast with a 3.08 GPA. I didn't save anyone from a burning building or cure a terminal disease. Pretty tough hole to climb out of, regardless of my 750 GMAT.

mbarealestate, sorry about the ding. Best of luck for coming crusades.

I've just submitted my ED app. On GPA, sadly the . in my GPA is not the algebraic multiplier function (2.2 = 4)

I think they will call the number on your app and leave a message to call back if they don't reach you. Then a couple days later status changes online. If you are dinged you just get an email saying the status has changed.

I got the status changed email yesterday (prior to interview complete), but when I logged in there was no update. I got a second one later yesterday and then went complete. There must have been a glitch.

Now that i'm complete, every time I get an email I feel sick to my stomach.

If you find this wait as excruciating as I do, think about freezing yourself for a couple weeks (ala Cartman in South Park when he can't wait for the release of the Wii)

CBS '13 just finished up its orientation week (actually we have drinks tonight at a swanky bar downtown) and I've got to tell you guys that CBS is an absolute blast!!! The MBA experience thus far has far exceeded my expectations. Its truly an amazing experience. NYC is such an incredible place to form a class and everyone is great. The culture and community are so tight -- I really think they've pushed back against the "no community" reputation that CBS had because everyone has been commenting on how close we've all become. One thing that helped for me were the student-led drinking nights at various NYC locations before orientation started; we had one at Sky Room (a rooftop bar in Times Square) where 400+ of us took over an entire bar.

Anyway, I am definitely drinking the orientation Kool-Aid because I've been having the time of my life. J-Termers: can't wait to meet you guys in a few months! Class of '14 prospies: best of luck!

Yes I've read the entire thread... the one thing that is painful is separating out J-Term vs ED fall term applicants from these threads... but if you reference the 9th of September, you'll see that's when most posted their "I got the call today!" posts. Outside one person LGB, it doesn't appear any fall ED applicants received feedback until then. Now of course, I'm hoping we get calls before the weekend with GOOD news, but I'm not expecting it. At this point, my thought process has been, no news is good news, indicating we didn't get dinged on the interview. We'll see how that holds true.

Does anybody have the same problem?

Yes. Its a bit different than before. I think in the first section when you choose what program you are applying to, then the essays section pops out. I had a hard time finding it too.

Regarding photo... I sent one from me two summers ago wearing a polo shirt, a little stubble on the face... really just something that doesn't show you partying or drunk is probably an "ok". While I wear business casual to work everyday... my personally is more relaxed and figured that I wanted a photo to match my overall application and essays... they're really just trying to put a face to the words on the page that's about it. Use your judgement but don't overthink it.

So you're saying the pictures of me doing a kegstand may not be appropriate?
