For me personally, my R2 applications were by far my strongest...My first application was Wharton, and I was dinged w/out interview. I think a big part of it was the fact that it was my first and weakest application.
I think the biggest thing for me was that I was much more specific on my goals and why Kellogg than I was in my earlier apps. I specifically talked about how I wanted to get into a TMT group at a mid-market investment bank specifically working with SaaS companies. I also brought this up in the interview and spoke of how and why I particulary found this area of software interesting. My earlier apps just said that I wanted to be an investment banker. For those with access to the essay vault, I plan to post my essays sometime today for the benefit of all.
