Critical Reasoning_Oldy but goldy question banks [#permalink]
Thanks carcass
Does this question bank include GMATExam Pack 1 questions as well? Because I have attempted the GMATPrep but not the Exam Pack 1 yet. So, I just don't want my score to be inflated when I took tests from Exam Pack 1.
Please let me know.

Also, what would you recommend for the CR Practice? I have completed OG '16 (and those extra questions from '17), GMAT Verbal Review'16, Kaplan 800.
Now, I'm at 65-70% accuracy level; I feel like I can do better till 650-700 range questions, but I really want to push the bar above 700. Thus, I want to improve more as well as to practice more questions of GMAT-like.
Please suggest.

Trying to revamp buried in the depths of time and tons of post on this board, I collected oldy but goldy verbal question banks.; one of them comes from my own collection.

In this post, you will find and download a total of 4 sets with a lot (And I would say, a lot) of questions, mainly from GMATPrep and MGMAT.

The level is in the range around 700: I would say from 680 above. Moreover, you will have strategy guidelines such as: how to identify the conclusion, what is an assumption, and so on

Please hit the kudo button and make the post counts.

Regards

Which questions are NOT gmatprep please, I would prefer not to do GMAT prep questions, thank you.

Find the question on the board and see the tag.

The collection is randomized. The time you attempt it and then give the gmatprep you already forget which is which how many questions we do have here around.

Hi Carcass

Thanks for questions.
it is very helpful

Just Posting some questions where i have doubts in the CR latest collection lot.
Can you please help here as answer does not have any explanations.

Q.1 Although Fullerenes - spherical molecules made entirely of carbon - were first
found in the laboratory, they have since been found in nature, formed in fissures
of the rare mineral Shungite. Since laboratory synthesis of Fullerenes requires
distinctive conditions of temperature and pressure, this discovery should give
geologists a test case for evaluating hypothesis about the state of the Earth's
crust at the time these naturally occurring Fullerenes were formed.
Which of the following, if true, most seriously undermines the
argument?

A) Confirming that the shungite genuinely contained fullerenes took careful
experimentation
B) Some fullerenes have also been found on the remains of a small meteorite
that collided with a spacecraft.
C) The mineral shungite itself contains large amounts of carbon, from which the
fullerenes apparently formed.
D) The naturally occurring fullerenes are arranged in a previously unknown
crystalline structure
E) Shungite itself is formed only under distinctive conditions.

Why can't be the answer of above question B and why the correct answer is D ?

Q. 13 Which if the following most logically completes the argument?
United States manufacturers currently produce most of the world's solar-power
generators – most of which are exported to Europe. However, European
manufacturers are emerging and probably will ultimately capture much of the
European market. The United States government is funding initiatives intended
to encourage use of solar power within the United States. If these initiatives
succeed in increasing the demand for solar-power generators in the United
States, United States manufacturers will probably maintain significant production
levels, since ---------------

A. some United States manufacturers have been substantially increasing their
output over the last several years.
B. the efficiency of solar-power generators in converting energy from the Sun
into electric power is not improving as fast as it once did
C. Just as European manufacturers enjoy certain advantages in Europe, so do
United States manufacturers in the United States.
D. European government are currently undertaking initiatives to stimulate the
use of solar power within Europe
E. the current market for solar-power generators in the United States is very
limited.

Why can't be the answer of above question A and why the correct answer is C ?

Q.16 Most of the world's supply of uranium currently comes from mines. It is possible to extract uranium from
seawater, but the cost of doing so is greater than the price that uranium fetches on the world market.
Therefore, until the cost of extracting uranium from seawater can somehow be reduced, this method of
obtaining uranium is unlikely to be commercially viable. Which of the following would it be most useful to
determine in evaluating the argument?

A. Whether the uranium in deposits on land is rapidly being depleted
B. Whether most uranium is used near where it is mined
C. Whether there are any technological advances that show promise of reducing the cost of extracting uranium
from seawater
D. Whether the total amount of uranium in seawater is significantly greater than the total amount of uranium on
land
E. Whether uranium can be extracted from freshwater at a cost similar to the cost of extracting it from seawater

Why can't be the answer of above question C and why the correct answer is A ?

17. Urban air contains more sulfur dioxide than does rural air, and plants in cities typically grow more slowly than
do plants in rural areas. In an experiment to see how much of the difference in growth is due to sulfur dioxide,
classes in an urban and a rural school grew plants in greenhouses at their schools and filtered the greenhouse
air to eliminate sulfur dioxide. Plants in the urban greenhouse grew more slowly than those in the rural
greenhouse. Which of the following, if true, would it be most important to take into account in
evaluating the result?

A. The urban school was located in a part of the city in which levels of sulfur dioxide in the air were usually far
lower than is typical for urban areas.
B. At both schools, the plants in the greenhouses grew much more quickly than did plants planted outdoors in
plots near the greenhouses.
C. The urban class conducting the experiment was larger than the rural class conducting the experiment.
D. Heavy vehicular traffic such as is found in cities constantly deposits grime on greenhouse windows, reducing the
amount of light that reaches the plants inside.
E. Because of the higher levels of sulfur dioxide in the air at the urban school, the air filters for the urban school's
greenhouse were changed more frequently than were those at the rural school.

Why can't be the answer of above question A and why the correct answer is D ?
