Re: For all its financial troubles, never has the Wall Street Journal been [#permalink]
Please , experts can you shed some light on the meaning of " For ". Some saying that it is used as a contrast word meaning " while".But I searched for it in the dictionar. Unfortunately , i found nothing like that.
Where can I find the word "for" is a contrast word?

AjiteshArun sir,
Why is "For all its financial troubles" better than "With all its financial troubles"?
What is the exact meaning being conveyed in the correct sentence.

Please explain.
Thanks

Hi Xolmuhammad, please refer to the following:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/for

Go through the following text on the above link:

6: in spite of —usually used with all
for all his large size, he moves gracefully

Hello krndatta,

We hope this finds you well.

Having gone through the question and your query, we believe we can resolve your doubt.

The core meaning here is that despite the Wall Street Journal's financial troubles, it has never been read by more people than it is at present.

Here, the preposition "For" plays the role of "Despite", providing a sense of contrast. Thus, "For all its financial troubles" is better than "With all its financial troubles" because "With" cannot convey that sense of contrast.

We hope this helps.
All the best!

Re: For all its financial troubles, never has the Wall Street Journal been [#permalink]
this is a easy one, took less than 30 secs...
1, read the original sentence, we can tell that there is a causal relationship, so we need words like becoz, for ,since...
2, S-V agreement, DE are gone
3, considering ---journal, wrong
4, with ,wrong, BECOZ< in GMAT> ,with cannot be used to express a logical relationship, like cause, result, etc....that is why C can be easily eliminated
