let the sticker price be x
store B price = .75x
store A price= .85x-90

ATQ, Heather saves 15 $ by buying computer from store A
That means store A price is 15 $ less than B

i.e .75x - (.85x-90)=15
0.10x=75
x=750

I reversed the subtraction. Missed the logic here. thanks for the explanation.

Heather compares the price of a new computer at two different stores. Store A offers 15% off the sticker price followed by a $90 rebate, and store B offers 25% off the same sticker price with no rebate. Heather saves $15 by buying the computer at store A instead of store B. What is the sticker price of the computer, in dollars?

(A) 750
(B) 900
(C) 1000
(D) 1050
(E) 1500

solve it by plugin options
A= 750*.85-90 = 547.5
B= 750*.75 = 562.5
difference = 15%

Letting n = the sticker price of the computer, we can create the equation:

0.85n - 90 = 0.75n - 15

0.1n = 75

n = 750
