If 6 workers can build 4 cars in 2 days, then how many days would it take 8 workers to build 6 cars?

(A) 5/3
(B) 9/4
(C) 8/3
(D) 11/4
(E) 10/3

1 worker can build 1 car in 3 days.
1 worker can build 6 car in 18days.
8 workers can build six cars in 18/8 days;=9/4 Ans B

6 workers build car in a day=4/2 = 2 cars
So, 1 workers build car in a day=2/6 = 1/3 cars

8 workers build car in a day=1*8/3 = 8/3 cars
8/3 cars gets build in- 1 days
So, 6 cars gets build in= 6*8/3= 9/4 days

(using Work = Men*Hours*Days)
Here, Work = Men*Days
In the first case, Work = 6*2 = 12 units ; 12 units of work is equivalent to 4 cars. Therefore, 6 cars = 18 units of work. 18 = 8*d => d = 9/4 days

\(6\) Workers build \(\frac{4}{2}=2\) cars per day

Rate of producing car \(= \frac{2 \quad cars}{6\quad Worker \quad Day} =\frac{1 \quad car}{3\quad Worker \quad Day}\)

Number of Worker days required to produce \(6\) cars\(= \frac{6 \quad car}{\frac{1 \quad car}{3\quad Worker \quad Day}} = 18 \quad Worker \quad Day\)

Number of days required to produce \(6\) cars by \(8\) Workers \(=\frac{18 \quad Worker \quad Day}{8 \quad Worker}=\frac{9}{4}\)Days

We know the rate of 6 workers is 4/2 = 2 cars/day. We can create a proportion to determine the rate of the 8 workers.

6/2 = 8/x

3 = 8/x

3x = 8

x = 8/3

Thus, it will take 8 workers 6/(8/3)= 18/8 = 9/4 days to build 6 cars.

Answer: B
