Let x = the pre-raise earnings. We can create the equation:

1.26x = 693

x = 693/1.26 = 550

So after a 20% raise, he earns 550 * 1.2 = 660 dollars.

Answer: C

let say his earning is E so
given 1.26 E =693 so E =693/1.26
if E inceased by 20% then E' = (693/1.26) *1.20 =660

126% represents 693

1% represents 693 / 126

120 % represents (693 / 126)*120 = 660

The best answer is C.

126/100 * X = 693
X = 550

120/100 * 550 = 660

Hence, C.
