1............................................\(\frac{Y}{X}\) items

10...........................................\(\frac{Y}{X}\)*10 items

= \(\frac{10Y}{X}\)

Answer: A.

We can create the following proportion, where n is the total number of items in the shipment:

x/y = 10/n

xn = 10y

n = 10y/x

Answer: A

Let x = 10 in every y=100.....Total shipment = 100

Check choices

(A) 10y/x = 10 (100)/10 = 100........Keep
(B) 10x/y = 10 (10)/100 = 1............Eliminate
(C) 10y =1000............Eliminate
(D) 10y/(y - x) =10 (100) / 90 ............Eliminate
(E) 10y/(x - y) ............Eliminate

Answer: A

1 defective item in Y/X
10 in 10Y/X

\(\frac{x}{y} = 10\)

So, \(x = 10y\)

Thus, \(1 = \frac{10y}{x}\), Answer must be (A)
