Forum,
I'm applying this fall to HBS, HKS, Tuck, Darden. I have a question about interviews. I am in the military and stationed in Germany so if I am offered an interview from HBS and Darden, should I do the skype session with a member of the ADCOM, or a in-person interview with an "ambassador" out here in Europe.
Skype - Pro: likely an actual member of the ADCOM. Someone who can fight for my candidacy in person. Con: it's not in person
"Ambassador" interview: Pro: Face to face contact (the only way I'd like to do it) Con: not the ADCOM
what do you think??

I would always opt for an in-person interview, but I certainly see why you'd want to talk to the adcom. That said, I believe Harvard sends its adcom all over the world to conduct interviews and pays very specific people to conduct interviews in certain regions. This means you can assume that whoever is interviewing you from Harvard is someone that adcom trusts. For Darden - from what I've heard they can be a bit more persnickety about on campus interviews, so I'd say a skype interview may be better if they allow it. If you can make it happen, I would suggest going to Tuck this fall and self-initiating an interview as that shows real interest, which from what I've heard is super valued at Tuck.
Good luck. Hopefully you'll get invitations to interview everywhere.
