Josh, the manager of a bookstore café, is completing his weekly sales summary. Each customer bought either a cappuccino or a juice and the café sold 50% more juice than cappuccino. One third of the customers who did not buy a cappuccino also bought a brownie and 3/4 of the total customers bought a bagel. If the number of bagels sold was 300 more than three times the number of brownies, how many customers did Josh's café serve?

A) 400
B) 800
C) 1200
D) 2000
E) 6000

number of people who drink cappuccino =x
number of people who drink juice = (3/2)x
Total customer served = x+ (3/2)x = (5/2)x
Also, number of people who bought a brownie = 1/3*(3/2)*x = x/2
Also people who bought bagel = (3/4)*(5/2)x = 15x/8

also bagel = 300 + 3*brownie
15x/8 = 300 + 3*(x/2)

15x/8 - 3x/2 = 300

or 3x/8 = 300 or x = 800

thus total customer served = (5/2)*800 = 2000

hence d
