Clearly this will be sufficient to provide a specific answer to the question and there is no need to actually solve this equation. This statement is sufficient. The answer will be either A or D.

Statement 2: The ratio of impressionist to non-impressionist paintings is 3:2. This information does not allow you to arrive at a specific number since you do not know either the number of impressionist or the number of non-impressionist paintings. Not sufficient.

The answer is A.
