Re: Most adults in country X consume an increasing amount of fat as they [#permalink]
Akela wrote:
Most adults in country X consume an increasing amount of fat as they grow older. However, for nearly all adults in country X, the percentage of fat in a person’ s diet stays the same throughout adult life.

The statements above, if true, most strongly support which one of the following conclusions about adults in country X?

(A) They generally consume more fat than do people of the same age in other countries.
(B) They generally eat more when they are older than they did earlier in their adulthood.
(C) They generally have diets that contain a lower percentage of fat than do the diets of children in country X.
(D) They tend to eat more varied kinds of food as they become older.
(E) They tend to lose weight as they become older.

It's B.

Either eat less + more fat including diet or Eat more + less fat consuming diet.

Why not E?
Bcz if they tend to lose weight, the percentage of Fat will remain the same right?

The option E talks about percentage of fat in person's diet and not about percentage in person's body.

Hope this helps!

Hi experts, I wanted to understand whether this question is tagged correctly? The questions present us with two contradictory points and then asks us to find the conclusion, now given the presence of contradictory points, shouldn't be this tagged as resolve the paradox questions?

Hi,
Please go through the question stem :

"Most adults in country X consume an increasing amount of fat as they grow older. (Fact 1)
However (contrast marker) for nearly all adults in country X, the percentage of fat in a person’ s diet stays the same throughout adult life." (Fact 2)

When question asks you to resolve the paradox, you search for multiple reasons/solutions that can be applicable/reasonable in that particular situation.
But the question is us to find a conclusion THAT supports the question stem,in the sense, we are NOT finding a solution to two contrasting situationsy . We are merely looking for a conclusion that can be based on the question stem.

Let me know if not clear.
Cheers!

Key is if % of FAT remains same in diet and quantity of FAT increases than off course overall diet increases.

Option-A, Not relevant information (comparison with other countries)
Option-B, Satisfies above condition.
Option-C, misleading, opposite than given information
Option-D, No co-relation of variety of food
Option-E, Weight is irrelevant
