Cartons that will remain empty=Total no of empty cartons-Total no of filled cartons
=50-\(\frac{372}{12}\)=50-31=19
Ans. (C)

P.S:-I have assumed that Mr. Gifford completely fills as many of them as possible with the 372 eggs instead of 327.

12 eggs in each carton.
As, given 12*50 = 600. Half of 600 = 300. So, 300 eggs in 25 cartons.
Remaining 72 / 12 = 6
Total carton used = 25 + 6 = 31

Empty carton = 50 - 31 = 19

Ans : C

No of empty cartoons required is \(\frac{372}{12} = 31\) Cartoons

No of cartoons left is 50 - 31 = 19 Cartoons, Answer must be (C) 19

Since 372/12 = 31, we see that 31 of the 50 cartons will be completely filled. Thus, there are 50 - 31 = 19 cartons that will remain empty.

Answer: C
